Ruxandra - Wonderful synthesis. Your work has inspired me to consider starting a substack! Kevin

It never fails to astonish me that so many of the Tech Bros who are clearly highly intelligent, invariably fail to make the link between data acquisition and genuine biological understanding. Biology is more than cellular engineering and even the ability to design highly specific and potent drugs is not a guarantee that they will be more successful in the clinic. Consider also that Novartis have been using ML in their trial ops for more than a decade (see Matt Herper’s articles) with mixed results. One other point; in epilepsy the pre-clinical models yield good predictive validity, yet a large proportion of patients cycle between treatments and the unmet need remains significant.
